- I used Oil Pastels to sketch
this mountain scene. I was on
a vaporetto boat going
from Venice to Burano and
was surprised to pass
the Dolomites as previous
trips on the same route
were swathed with the mist of
the lagoon, but this day
was totally clear of any clouds
or mist and these majestic
peaks appeared and took
my breath away. The purples
and mauves blend in well on
the grey pastel paper and the
soft whites are the snowy
peaks of the Dolomites.
